PROJECT DESCRIPTION
We were commissioned to design a contemporary family home in Shropshire. This modern dwelling is based on a simple traditionally proportioned agricultural barn, its plain barn-style elevations representative of the local rural vernacular architecture but reimagined through the use of modern-day materials. A vertical timber skin surrounds the building, all held beneath a striking metal roof. Large expanses of glazing provide views out over the private garden and fields beyond whilst the overhanging canopies not only offer solar shading but also provide privacy to the first-floor living spaces. The design encompasses innovative and creative sustainable methods.
